Not many producers, in the arena of hip-hop or otherwise, can boldly state that their recornding experiments twice (first with Sound Masters Recording, later attended Musicians Instutute of Hollywood) transformed my musical landscape. But, then again, every producer is not T Blazz. "Although I’m from the south coast, I try to make music that will have a universal appeal," says T Blazz, whose latest disc Welcome 2 Dah 818 (Shatha Entertainment/Shatha Records) is as musically diverse as the constant sounds blaring in his brain. "It’s always been my desire to make music for the world."
Indeed, having constructed such projects as Road 2 Hollywood quintuple platinum classic I'm rich Bitch, the bouncy "Parking Lot Pimp n" for Doc Holly and the cool Cadillac Slim aka Judah mann disc for gospel rapper Judahmann, a sophomore solo disc was the furthest thing from Tblazz’s mind. "I’ve always been just a producer at heart, but my friends and family kept insisting that I do another project."
On Welcome 2 Dah 818, was designed to thrill the souls of hip-hop macks. "Not trying to sound arrogant, but as a fan of rap, I just wasn’t hearing much music that I thought was moving the world," explains Tblazz. "And that’s what I wanted to create."
Reunited with Doc Holly, the first single "Only N Cali." is a slow motion riot featuring wicked keyboards, Tblazz’s trademark vocals and a hip swaying groove that transports the track to the next level of sonic intensity. "We created almost a hundred tracks for this project," says Tee. "But, this song was the next to last song that I recorded. I needed the perfect song to represent Welcome 2 Dah 818."
In addition to Yung Glory, Riffa, Hennysick, K-Dub, Lady Ghost,Sun-E and Mr.S.O.C, all of whom make appearances on Tblazz Welcome 2 Dah 818, soul diva Ambokile' makes a cameo on the sorrowful track "Would u Mine." Dedicated to all the ladies, this is one of the most emotionally charged records in hip-hop . "Anyone who has ever l loved somrone will be able to relate," says Tblazz.
Back to once again reign supreme on booming stereos throughout the world, Tblazz's Welcome 2 Dah 818 takes the listener on a black to the future fantastic journey into wild soundscapes, blunted voices and new beginnings.
