Shawn Anderson – a.k.a. RELAPSE Born & Raised in Southern California, Shawn has been involved in music production since he was a teenager. His influences range from a wide spectrum of artists including, Steely Dan, Suicidal Tendencies, Slayer, Eric B. & Rakim, EPMD, Misfits, Danzig, Brand Nubian, Ice Cube, N.W.A., Compton’s Most Wanted and 3rd bass. After teaming up with four neighborhood friends for a talent show at his Junior High School, Mortitia was born. A hard edge contemporary rock band that appealed to the disenfranchised kids of the San Gabriel Valley. Mortitia gained notoriety playing at venues in Hollywood including the Whisky-a-go-go, The Coconut Teaser and The Roxy. While bands like Snot, Downset, & System of a Down went on to bigger things, Mortitia was abruptly ended by an incident that sent Shawn to a drug rehabilitation facility in Texas for 3 years. Upon turning 18 and his release, he went back to school at Citrus Community College were he played football and earned a scholarship to Weidner University. Philadelphia, not unlike L.A. has a dark side and Shawn again, found himself in trouble. After his short stint in prison he would go on to graduate from Weidner and return home to Los Angeles. In 2000 he would team up with life-long friend and Hip-Hop Producer, Troy DeSimone to start production on a new project. To date, the pair have released two full-length C.D.s, along with the most recent E.P., “The Real O.C.”. Relapse is a release for Shawn, as he struggles with the reality of growing older and in turn, leaving behind such an eventful adolescence. Shawn continues to strive for the perfect demo and through his production team (Freestyle Productions) and management, (Notorious Enterprises) hopes to put out music for years to come.
