This Chicago native came to get the party started by integrating the laid back, fun attitude of old school hip-hop with the modern mass appeal of new school. Fusing these elements together with his own artistic vision, he plans to take hip-hop back to when it was more about a block party than serving the block. Yohighnas has been establishing a name for himself by hitting the streets with his music from L.A. to San Diego, out to Las Vegas and back to Santa Barbara. He’s had success selling his first two albums, ‘Supastar’ and ‘I Came to Party’, and more recently a compilation of the two, ‘Underground Classics’. All of which are written, rapped, and sung by him. Between steady album sales and live performances at clubs like Stevie’s and Cinespace, he has captured fans from California all across the country and even overseas to Australia, the U.K., and Japan. His upbeat party vibe and natural superstar charisma appeal to everyone from skaters to pop fans to hip-hop heads. It’s no wonder he has begun to cultivate a growing and widely diverse fan base. Andrew Coleman a.k.a. Yohighnas, has always had ambitions to pursue a career in music. Those ambitions stayed with him as he moved across the country and eventually landed him on a bus to Los Angeles. With nothing but a one-way bus ticket, three dollars and a dime bag of weed, he had complete faith that his music would keep him off the streets. After a month and a half of living in homeless shelters he was discovered by Grammy award-winning producer Mark Sparks. Through his affiliations with Sparks he was able to work with many artists including Bobby Brown, Knocturnal, Aaron Hall, and LA Confidential. This gave him the opportunity to learn and build on his talent, as well as distinguish himself as an artist. Eventually he hooked up with producer Ellis Taylor, president of El and Him Productions. They had similar ideas of the direction they wanted to take their music in so Yohighnas took the next step and they began recording his albums together. His experiences have taken him through highs and lows from a taste of life in the music industry to humbling realities and crushing disappointments. His unbreakable drive has pushed him through it all and shaped him into the strong, well-developed artist he is today.
