At the age of 26, rap artist C.A.L.“CA$H AN LYRIC$”
has gained a great amount of respect all over the
world with his hit single “Must Be The Ice” produced
by Snoops vice president “Jt The Bigga Figga”. It’s
hard to believe that he has only been using his
artistic skills for almost two years now.
This hungry emcee grew up in the rough streets of
Buffalo NY with his mom and younger brother. He was
forced to take on the role of a man at the age of 8
when his mom and stepfather divorced. His mom worked
during the day and tried to better her education at
night so it was up to C.A.L. to take care of his
younger brother and fend for himself. Being stuck
indoors all the time triggered his interest in music.
He often recorded music videos to his tape recorder
because his mom couldn’t afford to pay the price for
the original copies. He then began to write verses and
songs at the age of 10. C.A.L. started putting all of
his time into music and his grades began to fall. His
mother wouldn’t allow music to come between his school
work so she took his tape recorder and television and
told him that rap music wasn’t allowed in her house.
C.A.L.’s dream of being a major artist was destroyed
at the age of 13. He then graduated from Campus East
grammer school wit merit honors and then attended
Bennett High School. C.A.L.’s focus on music really
took a turn down south when he was introduced to
puberty and pretty girls. He was always focused on the
girls and when he couldn’t do that, he was taking care
of his younger brother back at home. He and his mom
argued back and forth over his freedom and how he was
missing out on his teen years, dates, neighborhood
pick up games, etc. because of her actions. C.AL. then
moved out and moved in with his grandmother. He then
got hired at the local Arby’s restaurant and started
making money. He later went on to graduate from high
shool and then he made one of the biggest decisions in
his life. He became a soldier and joined the US AIR
FORCE. At the current time he had a girlfriend named
Dana whom he convinced to join as well. They married
and spent 8 long years and gave birth to two beautiful
girls named Kiara and Amiyah while active duty.
Everything was going smoothly until one night when he
was stationed in South Carolina he was traveling home
after performing for the troops when he hit a deer and
his vehicle flipped on it’s side. Remarkably C.A.L.
had on his seat belt and just held onto the wheel so
he wouldn’t get thrown around in the vehicle. God was
on his side that night. He didn’t walk away with one
bruise. C.A.L. then received orders to move to
Colorado Springs in April 2003. Once again everything
seemed great until a frightening thing happened on
August 9th 2003. C.A.L. and his 2yr. Daughter Kiara
were traveling to get some breakfast @ 10:00 a.m. when
they were all of a sudden ran off of the road by a
drunk driver. The two were ejected from the vehicle
while it rolled over three times causing the car to be
totaled. C.A.L. went through the driver window and
suffered a severe laceration to his left hand, pins in
his fingers, fractured ribs, and a banged up right
leg. Kiara amazingly only received two scrapes on her
knees. Dana couldn’t take the military life any longer
and C.A.L. was tired of fighting the war for Bush so
the two separated and received honorable discharge
certificates. C.A.L. and the family then relocated
back to Buffalo NY and tried to start his music dream
all over again. C.A.L. went to Guitar Center and
purchased all of the necessities to start his own
personal recording studio in the attic. He then went
on to spending most of his time making beats and
recording new songs. His wife Dana then became jealous
and felt as though C.A.L. wasn’t spending enough time
with the family and wanted him to give it all up. It
was like De Ja Vu. C.A.L. told Dana that music was his
heart and dream and she said these words. “GO AND FUCK
YOUR MUSIC THEN” The two separated and C.A.L. refused
to give up on his dream twice. In 8 months C.A.L.
stayed on the grind and released two mixtapes. He was
quickly recognized in the city of Buffalo NY for his
rap talent. Focused more than ever, C.A.L. spent
numerous hours posting bulletins on his myspace
account trying to promote his music to the best of his
ability. Keeping his eyes and ears open He then came
across a bulletin from Snoop stating that they had
beat packages, accapellas, and distribution deals for
serious independent artists. C.A.L. responded to the
bulletin and was provided the number to get in contact
with Jt the Bigga Figga. The two exchanged multiple
conversations and C.A.L. was invited to fly out to
Oakland to work on his next project. C.A.L. saved up
$15,000 and flew out to California to meet Jt . During
his three week stay in California C.A.L. creatively
mixed his NY swag wit the West Coast sound and came up
with his hit single “Must Be The Ice” gaining the ears
of listeners of all ages from the United States,
Germany, UK, and Canada. “Must Be The Ice” has been
featured on three Mixtapes worldwide and is still
getting airplay and spins in the local clubs. C.A.L.
has since recorded 15 songs produced by JT for his
upcoming self entitled album “C.A.L.” He has excelled
and worked harder in two years than many so called
artists that have been rhyming for years. He feels he
now owes it to his self, his kids, and his ex wife to
get a recording deal. He promised the lord that he
would die going for this dream and won’t quit this
time. God still has him on this earth for a reason.
