DJ Khaled (born in New Orleans, Louisiana as Khaled Khaled, Arabic: خالد خالد‎, English trans: "eternal" this name was borne by a 7th century Islamic military leader, Khalid ibn-al-Walid [1] transliteration: KhÄlid KhÄlid) is a DJ, radio personality, and a member of Terror Squad.
His debut album, Listennn... The Album, dropped in stores on June 6th, 2006. The album features an all-star cast of artists such as Lil Wayne, Chamillionaire, Young Jeezy, T.I., Kanye West, Juelz Santana, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Twista, Beanie Sigel, Paul Wall, Rick Ross, Fat Joe, Pitbull, Trick Daddy, Akon, John Legend, and many more. The first single off of his album, "Holla At Me", premiered on MTV's "Making The Video".
DJ Khaled is also a DJ on a urban-formatted radio station in South Florida, WEDR 99 Jamz, weekdays from 6pm to 11pm in the TakeOver with K. Foxx.
A regular feature on illegal underground radio stations, DJ Khaled has, at various times in his career, gone by the monikers of "the Arab Attack" (discontinued shortly after 9/11/2001), "Big Dog Pitbull", "Terror Squadian", "the Beat Novocain", "the Don Dada", "Mr. Miami", etc., although most listeners still know him as DJ Khaled.
On September 7, 2006, he was arrested on South Beach for possession of marijuana. Khaled made bail the following day.
Khaled recently announced on the BET New Year's Notorized show that he was working on his sophomore album entitled "We the Best," scheduled to be released summer of 2007. The first single, We Takin' Over, is scheduled for release.
