Drop's thoughts on mixtapes//albums//singles and HipHop today: "They are not dead. Its a matter of sell-out executives and sell-out artists. Watch, Things will change."
HipHop is still HipHop at the end of the day. Music is ingested the same way it always has been except new technology revolutioned how it is ingested. And Sell-outs jumped on it quick, thats all the game is witnessing right now. dONT pANIC, but Change the formula.
CHANGING THE FORMULA
Its a new day & time in the music industry which calls for a new way of reaching out to the masses. And if u have the total package, it is easy. Real talk.
I dont think its all about the single and ringtones. Its a major part but definitely not what its ALL about. ITS 2008, THE YEAR OF NEW beginnings. The keyword is new. We r tired of the same shit over and over so the system changes as a result. For example, the USA isn't ready for a black president if you ask me. But all of a sudden, Obama is killin Clinton in the primaries and digging into her base of white supporters and females. 9 straight victories. THINGS CHANGE and this isn't the 1st time hiphop has been under scrutiny, it was thought to be a fad once b4. And then we had our share of sell-out artists does VANILLA ICE ring a bell? Then came the Golden Era. But its a matter of opinion so i dont knock anybody's thoughts on the subject but mixtapes and albums aren't dead. not even close.
Its just a period of conforming to whats new. Some will succeed, some won't. MANY WON'T and its already evident. Record labels filing for bankruptcy and firing staff, SIGNED ARTISTS STEALING IDEAS FROM UNDERGROUND ARTISTS ((i SEE it)) they are crumbling. Who is going to put their neck out there and dare against the odds in this cut-throat business.
