My name has a lot of meanings. Somewhat similar to the stereotypical stories of other rap stars, the streets gave me my name. I moved to Charlotte with my cousin in early 06 because i was working at a trash can plant . . . we hot stamped trash cans and they paid 10.00/hr so it was good money at the time. My cousin's friend was making way more in the drug game and stopped by the plant to stunt so to speak. He said he would put us on and we could boom out of his trap and make money together. So, we quit the job. I started trapping and it seemed so natural to me, i was just good at hustling. We needed names aside from our gov't to ensure our anonymity from the police. My actual first name is DREW. And since the product i sold was top of the line CRACK, they gave me the nickname DROP which is in reference to the drip reaction fiends get in their throats from it. I remember writing a rhyme while on my "job" where it said "when i wrote this i wasnt focused i was trappin // but f*ck it, I can make a million dollars rappin" // ..
The name followed me from the streets into my music because I spit CRACK, or DROP.
So aside from the many definitions of my name, this is how it came to be. Thanks 4 asking, it was kool going back on this topic and opened my eyes to how it all got started. Critics may say it is negative, but i feel a negative turned into a positive and lyrical CRACK doesn't kill anybody . . . . .
