Jonathan "JayStar" Hurt was born and raised in the mother land of Hip Hop. Spending the first half of his child hood in the Castle Hill section of the Bronx New York,Jay's parents wished good things for him. They decided that a life in Long Island would present better oppertunity for him and his two brothers. Like most young African American and Latino families, Jay's family endured hard times and struggle. His mother worked hard in New York City while his father seemed to be making mistake after mistake. Soon his family split and jay with his mother and two brothers moved back to Castle Hill. It was here where Jay heard his first Hip Hop ALbum. He found a tape labeled the Cronic by Dr. Dre and listened to the whole thing. His mother was steeming mad when she found out because she did not want him to hear some of the things that Dr. Dre had to say. Shortly after they moved a couple blocks away to a two bedroom apartment in Parklane on Lafayette Ave and White plains Road. There Jay spent the remainder of his child hood. Although at the time his mother was totally against Rap Music, love for her son caused her to go against what she felt. On his next birth day he asked her to buy him a boom box and snoop doggs "doggy style." Having no choice she complied with his wishes and that was the start to Jay's dedication to Hip Hop. He started on the West and moved to the east coast. He was inspired by groups like Wu-Tang, das FX, Busta Ryhmes, LL, Nas, NORE, the lox, Biggie, and many more. Jay fell in love with Rap music and at the age of 14 decided to write his own lyrics. Rapping over other peoples beats, jay dreamed of hiting the stage and rocking the crowed. Hip Hop remains Jay's first love. When asked about Hip Hop today Jay says "Hip Hop aint what it used to be when he was going up. Its more commercial now." Jay has entered the loud.com contest to take a shot at the 100,000 and most importantly the record deal.
