New York, NY (May 16, 2008) – I’m probably in the minority on this site, but I don’t get the phenomenon of Lil Wayne. At all. I mean, at best, he’s an average lyricist with most of his lines consisting of the basic set-up/punch variety; I’m also of the opinion he bit his delivery/swagger from Jay and that that nasal/high-pitched whine-thing he does is not a substitute for a flow.
The other half of what I don’t get is how he has an admitted drug problem that goes celebrated by the media. And what’s with the wannabe-Kanye-bravado? What exactly has Little Wayne done for hip-hop? Where does he actually think he stands? Someone enlighten me. Cuz if all that makes people interesting, I know a few assholes who wouldn’t mind the spotlight.
Anyways, here’s the Blender interview, it’s all over the web by now. Rizoh caught an interesting aside via Starpulse, though, talking about Wayne predicting the world was doomed in 2012.
