New York, NY (May 13, 2008) – Perry Ferrell’s music festival, Lollapalooza, will now be available to stream onto your computer this summer via the ever-growing Last.fm. The CBS-owned music site, a personal radio station of sorts, announced yesterday that it will power Lolla Radio, the official station of the festival. Visitors to the site will be able to check out songs from the entire roster of artists performing, including headliners Rage Against The Machine and Radiohead.
…Last.fm visitors will have the option of streaming songs from the 120 artists expected to appear at this year’s festival, and will also be able to download a Lollapalooza radio widget, which they can attach to their own blogs or profiles.
“Thanks to the depth and size of our massive catalogue, Last.fm is the only music Web site that could power the online radio of such a unique and compelling festival lineup,” Last.fm co-founder Martin Stiksel said in a statement.
Last.fm will also have advertisements and an on site presence at the Lollapalooza festival, held from August 1 to 3 in Chicago’s Grant Park. The festival is expecting around 25,000 attendees.
Lollapalooza will feature a bunch of hip-hop this year, with Kanye West, Gnarls Barkley, The Cool Kids and Kid Sister joining Rage Against The Machine. Last.fm is definitely on the come-up, kids. Check it out here.
