Russian Rapper Earns Rep Inside MMA Cage
By Bryan Munson
New York, NY (May 8, 2008) – Why doesn’t every rapper who has beef with another rapper just jump in the cage?
It makes perfect sense. Dana White can make said rappers the circus half-time show once a month at his UFC events, and, save for the loser, everybody wins! Curtis vs. Fat Joe would sell a million more Pay-Per-Views than a regular fight alone, there’d be no more idiotic beef to write/report because it would be settled and the world will finally realize that MMA is a serious sport and shouldn’t be confused with human cockfighting or rappers and their customary punch-and-run philosophy.
Anyways… Russian emcee/heavyweight Popek Rak (not be confused with the god Fedor Emelianenko) has actually taken to MMA as a natural extension of his somewhat gangster persona and fights professionally. Only, as a reformed hoodlum, he uses mixed martial arts as a positive outlet and not to reaffirm his tough-guy status. Wait, didn't I just... um... check out the article here at ESPN and decide if you think he’s genuine. The article is full of praise for the guy, but you never know with ESPN. He could have ties to the Red Sox.
Other than the fact I don’t understand his native language, I like his work ethic and he’s pretty much the only rapper that is more walk than talk. Big Ups.
80% of this vid is in Russian, the other in lovely English accents from the Cage Babes
Hmm… more training sequences, 100% in Russian and still no actual fight footage from Popek’s fight. Depending on your taste, the reporter chick might be worth the 5 minutes, though.
