Few can turn misfortunes into prosperity, but Mason Payne is an exception and a testament to the prepared mind. The trials and tribulations that he has overcame, have given him a strong voice, in every sense of the word, and he intends to use it. Mason’s journey started as a child in a tough situation, watching his mother struggle to make enough money so that he could have the best, whether is was the newest sneakers or just some good food. Still, growing up in Mississauga Mason found himself in the streets and their darkness led him to an even darker place where he served 2 years of his life. He came back into society with new plans and new passions, to make a difference, and now he gives credit to “the struggle” for his talent that was patiently waiting to be unleashed. For almost a decade Mason Payne has been putting serious work into his craft. He is determined to make an impression on the city, and beyond. Mason has been working hard to promote his talent on the college and mainstream radio circuit, and has also kept busy doing multiple shows a month across southwestern Ontario. His most recent single "Myself" made it to the top 10 on 89.5 Masterplan Show. Established Toronto promotional companies and independent labels such as S.A.R.S and the 5th Element Series have featured Mason on countless records and mix-tapes, adding to his already vast catalogue of work within the Toronto hip-hop community. The independent label “Hustle & Flip Ent.” that he signed to, is on the rise, and Mason wants to take his team to the top by creating “"a paycheck in a sport were flows create payrolls". In addition to rapping Mason is also a talented engineer, and has put in work behind the boards for various artists. Hustle & Flip Ent. is in the process of unveiling the newest Toronto phenomenon that Mason is an integral part of, The Western Union. They are a collective of over 14 talented artists who are aggressive in every manner when it comes to hip-hop, and still with so many people Mason Payne is the stand out. The Western Union project is only one of the many anticipated releases from Hustle & Flip. Mason Payne is also getting set to release one of the most raw and real records of 2008 with "Hussla 2 Customa". The constant flow of ideas and aspirations, mixed in with hours spent in the studio, and in freestyle battles have made Mason an extremely diverse and intelligent artist, that has something to say.
