What is this site all about?
We built this site for one reason and that’s to try to find the best hip hop talent we can find. We know that a lot of ya’ll can’t afford or don’t have access to studio time and professional quality beats, so we took away as many obstacles as we could by giving you easy access to both.
-
How much does it cost?
It’s free to join the website and free to join the contest. We even give you a couple of beats for free so you can check out the Loud Studio software and get the hang of it with no cost to you.
-
Do I need special software or recording equipment?
No, all you need is a microphone and a Windows-based computer. Simply download the LOUD Studio, plug your microphone into your computer and start recording. Click here to learn more about how to use the studio.
-
Can I use my own studio equipment and upload the audio back?
No. We want to hear what you really sound like with a simplistic recording process. When you win the contest, you’ll be working plenty of studio time, but for now we just want you to prove you have the talent needed to take the prize.
-
Can I use my own beats for the contest?
No, not at this time. There are several legal issues as it relates to samples, etc. We are working on a soulution. We will keep you posted.

How much are the beats?
Battlerap has packages that you can download beats for use in the game starting as low as $0.75 per beat. See our beat packages in our buy beats section.
-
Where do I get a microphone and how much does it cost?
You can purchase a microphone at any electronics store or music supply store. Sam Ash, Best Buy, Guitar Center all have microphones for under $30.00 that work fine. Just make sure to look for one with a 3.5mm mini jack (standard on most computers) and not a POT or ¼” jack unless you have a more expensive sound card in your computer system and you’re sure of what you’re buying.
-
Should I use headphones?
Yes, the beat will feedback into your micrpohone if you do not use headphones. If you do not have headphones you can still record with decent quality but you’ll need to spend a lot of time playing with the audio levels in the studio to reduce the feedback. Headphones are strongly recommended.

How does the contest work?
The contest works by having all contestants submit a composition once each week for 10 weeks. Between each weekly entry, it’s the contestant’s job to get people to check out their entry and rate it.on a scale of 1 to 5, Entries with less than 25 votes in a one week period will not be counted. You will be judged by the community as well as our A&R staff. At the end of each week, we will select one person to go to the semi finals. After the 10 weeks we will have 10 semi finalist, we will than select 3 to head to the finals where they will compete for the $100,000 and a record deal with SRC. We will run three 10-week semi final rounds before the finals. Prizes will be awarded to the 3 semi finalist of each 10 round cycle.
-
How do the Head to Head battles work?
The Head to Head battles are a very simple process. Each competitor will submit an entry for the battle and the community chooses who wins the battle. At the end of the battle, the winner will get community points to increase your community rating. This rating is only used to determine tie breakers when choosing the 10 semi finalists. There will be giveaways, beat credits, and more for our bigger community participants, and don’t forget the head to head gives you the street cred that SRC likes to see.
-
What if I am not accepted into the finals?
Keep trying; we are looking for the MC that won’t quit. Keep building your fan base and submitting raps.
-
Can I upload more than one rap per round and will that increase my chances of winning?
Yes, you can upload as many raps as you want per round, you will be judged by your peers as well as SRC’s LOUD team. If you have 2 or 3 hot tracks you want to put up for the round, that’s fine but each rap is judged on its own.
-
How does the voting system work?
The community will be ranking your raps from a scale of 1 to 5. The averages will be tallied, and than we grab from the top ranks. We will also be looking at how you are promoting LOUD and yourself. Keep in mind the winner will be selected by our experts at SRC and the producers.

-
Can we use these beats for mix tapes or other things outside of Loud.com?

Do I have to battle to enter the contest?
No. The contest is setup to work in more of a voting format rather than a battle format. We understand that many artists are not into the battle rap lifestyle and would rather just sit back and make records. Please refer to the FAQ about how the contest works.
