On January 17th David M. Graham A.K.A. Spotlight was born at Metropolitan hospital in manhattan. As a baby in a 2 parent household, Spotlight lived in poverty. With his father strung out on cocaine and alcohol, it drastically led to an abusive relationship between his mother and father. His mother was constantly working and his father just terrorized himself and everything around him. About 3 years after Spotlight's birth, him and his mother moved up to the Bronx where things got quite a bit better. Spotlight's father continued his wrong path while D.Jaying in downtown manhattan. With his sister fresh out of rehab for crack-cocaine, she got an apartment with her boyfriend now husband where they took care of Spotlight as if he were their own. A while after, Spotlight attended pre-kindergarten where his family began to notice he had behavior problems. All through school he excelled academically but was placed on medication because of his lack of self-control. He felt inept form his family and peer's his extreme temper. At age 13 he turned to the streets but he then found a passion called music. While still continuing to get into trouble in school, Spotlight found his passion for music. He always loved music growing but didn't really sink in to him till around that age. He would go to parties all over New York and make a name for himself and his friends by dancing. But like any other "neighborhood", Spotlight began drinking and smoking with his friends. At age 14, Spotlight was arrested for unauthorized use of a vehicle and marijuana where he was also framed for gun possesion. After only 2 months in high school, he was placed in an alternative school for juvenile delinquants. With his case separated from his co-defendants, things seemed to be going downhill. With past frustration and the use of drugs taking a toll, Spotlight discontinued attendance at the school that was appointed to him by the judge. He than linked up with his friends aunt where they became a couple. He lived 2 blocks down from where his cour appointed school was on 144th st. St. Anns Ave. Basically he was on his own already. With a warrant out for his arrest and not realizing the stress put on his mother, Spotlight actually felt a little content with himself. One night Spotlight maneuvered himself to his mother's house and passed out from being drunk. He was awaken by 2 police officer's and escorted downstairs where they placed him nder arrest. 3 weeks later he was released and realized his mother will not continue to spoil something thats already rotten, so he began selling drugs for money. He has been off and on since 14 but really took it serious after he came home. He was now 16. 2 months later he got caught again and didn't come home until 15 months later. While incarcerated, he caught another charge for assaulting another inmate. He was shipped to county jail where he would be held for court somewhere by canada. His case got dropped to a ticket and he returned to his facility, this time in a different unit. Fresh out of jail, 7 hours back in the city, Spotlight was greeted by his "friends" and feel back into the same negativity. Now on parole, Spotlight was scheduled to report everyday and was given a curfew. Somehow he never complied but still managed to get off of parole after 90 days and attended a GED program. Now interacting with new faces, Spotligtht was always told he should write poetry because of his way with words. He began writing poetry and after a while began to rap his frshly written lyrics. He dropped out of school which was a bad move to pursue his dream full time. To make a tremendous story short, he is now patiently waiting for his chance to finally show the world why he is the Spotlight. He's going to show to show the younger generation how to turn a negative into a positive along with adults basically turning the sad streets into a playground for good music and also show that no one is immune to the trials and tribulations of life. IS HE NEXT UP? YES HE IS!! STAY TUNED!!
