Who is Jersey Bounce
Count D
Drummer, producer, programmer, arranger, percussionist, and keyboardist. Proficient in many styles, Hip-hop, R&B, funk, rock, soul, neo soul, blues, second line, house, trip hop, Latin, Afro Cuban, Brazilian and middle eastern rhythms.
Count D has been in the music/entertainment industry for twenty years. Count D was first exposed to the early Hip-hop scene on the streets of Asbury Park New Jersey going to school there during the same year hip hop gained national attention, also in the same year he began playing drums and keyboards. While being a member of the First Baptist Church of Asbury Park, Count was singing in the church choir and playing in church band backing the school basketball team at halftime, this was the basis of his musical foundation he then moved to Colorado and met Mark O Boykins, and J Jones then began working as a Drummer/producer working with various up and coming local artists performing live, and in the studio. As a producer he blends all styles from around the world, as well as utilizing sounds and songs from all eras, and genres of music, sampling everyone from Duke Ellington to Led Zeppelin. Count D’s production style is indefinable and can work with anyone in the industry, in the studio pulling in opera singers, blues singers, gospel singers, live percussionists, drummers, DJ’s, Sitar players, integrating in sequences, samples and loops, sampling movie soundtracks and indigenous music and sounds from anything he can get his hands on/ Count D has recorded with and performed live with many top level DJ’s including Baby G, Moby, Jam X, Panic, Hippe, Hani, Timbuc, Selecta Sam, Count D co-founded Lord of word and the Disciples of bass becoming the premier live hip hop act in the region opening and touring for such acts as James Brown, George Clinton and the P funk all-stars, Boosty Collins, Ice Cube, The funky Meters, Morris Day and the time, 311, and the Alcoholics to name a few. Count d has been working one on one in the studio with George Clinton for sixteen years. As a drummer Count d is rock solid when it comes to the downbeat, backbeat, upbeat or offbeat, well schooled in R&B, Hip Hop, Soul, Neo Soul, Funk, and Rock he is a well seasoned veteran player who brings an excitement to the stage and will have the house rockin from front to back when you smell the beat of the count kick drum…fi fa fa fi fa fa fo fa fa fum.
The Wizard Timdizl
Songwriter, producer, engineer, editor, arranger, guitarist, bassist, keyboardist, and director, proficient in many styles, Hip-hop, R&B, funk, rock, soul, neo soul, blues, ska, and reggae.
Son of a preacher man, Dizl got his early start in the church in Seattle, Washington learning guitar at the age of eight playing guitar in junior high school bands and once in high school Dizl was composing original music with various bands and right out of high school co founded ”The Jonez” which grew to be undeniably one of Denver’s top acts for a solid eight year run touring the United States relentlessly Mexico, and South America as well. After The Jonez Dizl was recruited and he joined Lord of Word and the Disciples of Bass continuing his touring and playing live in the west and Midwest region and throughout the 80’s and 90’s, opening for and touring with such acts as; the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Primus, Fishbone, No Doubt, 2 live crew, Ice Cube, Neil Young, Steel Pulse, Yellow Man, Shabba Ranks, Brian Setzer Orchestra, Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Grooves, James Brown, 311, Special Beat Service, Bighead Todd and the Monsters, the Samples and many more, in such venues as, Red Rocks amphitheater, McNichols Arena, Fiddlers Green amphitheater, the Fox Theater, CBGB’s, Limelight, The Roxy [LA and Buenos Aries], Club Lingerie, Coconut Teaser, Color Box, Starlight, 1st avenue, Gibson’s, The Double Door, and Mississippi Nights, to name a few. After Lord of word Dizl, Count D and J Jones Formed Mystic 3, a music production team / label working with local artists and underground legends like Lord G. Then came Jersey Bounce production house/label co founded with Count D working with local, regional, and national artists. As a guitarist Dizl is well schooled innovative player who is able to blend with many different styles, on stage Dizl is the truth giving the band exactly what it needs who rocks on all levels sick, crunchy, thick metal, the smoothest R&B, blazin leads, killer reggae or in the pocket funk. As an engineer Dizl did a two-year internship with nationally known engineer Jon Buress at Hands on studio in Denver Co, who worked with artists like Tommy Bolin. Dizl has worked with the computer application Pro Tools since the day it was released hence the name “The Wizard” and has a vast knowledge of Macintosh programs and computers. In video/film production Dizl worked on projects like; ‘Things to do when your dead in Denver’, and BMW, Nike, McDonalds, Nintendo, Samsonite, Dish Network, Denver Post/Rocky Mountain News, and Stanley cup commercials. And is Director on ‘Snake Chama’ a video in production featuring Avenue Joe and Breezo.
Marc O Boykins
Songwriter, conductor, arranger, choral arrangement, pianist, keyboardist, and vocalist. Proficient in many styles, Hip-hop, R&B, funk, rock, soul, neo soul, blues, classical, jazz and Gospel. Known as “O” he began his life of playing music in the church, considered a child prodigy he began playing at six. Officially O began taking piano lessons at the age of eight playing recitals and in the church choir also various junior jazz ensembles once O entered high school it was on from the start as a freshmen O had lead chair for four years, he and legendary jazz drummer “Jon Neiland” along with Bassist “Andrew Hudson” led one of the best high school jazz bands in the region conducted by the renowned “ Mr. Hugh Avis”, in this jazz band Count D and O began there lifelong connection of working together. O spent most of his career working with Count D in the studio and on stage in acts like J Jones, Lord of Word and The Disciples of bass, O also began working with George Clinton in 1992 in the studio doing pre production for George Clinton and the P Funk all-stars, Gary Sheider, and Bernie Worrell which is now going into the sixteenth year. Whenever they come to town O is in the studio. O has been musical director for many church choirs in the Denver area since 1990 he is a well respected member of the local church community. O has phenomenal gospel skills and he uses his skills well in the studio, when it comes to vocal production he’s one of the best in the region. With over thirty years experience O continues to display his mastery on a local and national level. O has performed with all the aforementioned acts and venues and continues his live work with “The Bounce Lounge”, the latest Disciples of bass project.
