A true sun of N.Y. .''Kess'' started his career in Hip Hop writing on trains in the early 80's at 13. While bombing the lines with such legends as Tike , Jon one and even the notorious TESS of X-MEN, Kess mastered the art of bombing and most of all Vamping(Stealing other writers paint). While rocking the line he would spit the illiest freestyles that would entertain his fellow graft writers to the point that he was told that he should really take that rapping shit serious. However it was not in till the early 90's that he would consider actually pursuing a deal. The amazing thing is as soon as he put together a demo Greg colman then ceo of Big Beat Atlantic now the president of Atlantic offered to sign the unknown artist. ''Some people said i was to smart for my own good not taking that deal''. It was the standard rape the artist deal given to a young thirsty artist. How ever what Big Beat didn't know was young Kess was far from hungry. "I had been in the streets early I had some cake so when my lawyer said don't sign this I was like cool''. Not one to cry about the pass or what could have been Kess just kept it in the hood.'' How did growing up in New york effect your music ? My mom and pop's broke up early so we moved around alot but we always stood in N.Y. ,I think Thats what made me tough every time we would move to a new hood there I was the new kid having to prove my self to the neighborhood tough guys. At time it was hard but you get use to fighting especially when your the only child, shit I had to fight whole family's some times big brothers uncles the whole nine, as a man now I understand it was gods plan one has to be strong to execute what I am planning. And whats that ? "Only time will tell'' Who are some of your favorite artist? The first song that moved me was The message, it was incredible I was about 9 or 10 living in the lower east side with my grandmother and it felt more like a warning then a song. After that I was hooked. I listened to every thing I could get my hands on but It wasn't in till the day the god Rakim came threw the door that I would be amazed once again. Of course KRS blew me away with the south south Bronx. Buy that time me and my mother had settled in Queens.I remember thinking dam he's dissing the whole borough,but I loved it their was no denying the song was off the hook. The funny thing is I smoked My first Blunt on a Queensbrige roof inside some kind of little Shad the rooftops had im going way back. You link up with Super Love Cee and Casanova Rud back in the Wildpicth days? Oh yae on there second album those brothers where beyond kool BLOWUP THE SPOT was the name of the track Im on the kool thing is they decided to name the album after that track . So whats next for you?
