Born February 21 in a small town in Florida called Clearwater or Wick City to the natives because of the extensive amount of dread- lock wearing hustlers, Al Katraz aka AK what he is known to the music industry, developed a love for music at a very young age. He hooked up with his cousin Bobby "Geronimo" Holmes in early 2000, who was part of a rap group called Wild Childz. His cousin introduced him to the producer of the label Crest Entertainment, Terrance T-flex Davis, which was named after a high crime area in Largo Florida called Ridgecrest. He performed under the name AK and made a name for his self in the underground segment. He adopted the name AK because of his fierce attitude and choice of words that are so sharp that they penetrate the hearts of those that hear his music. His lyrics was his ammunition, his tongue a weapon. While going through some family problems in late 2000 he then started back hustling for a means of survival. At the time he was also working on his first major album which would have hit the streets by the begining of 2002 but instead fate had its own way and things turned for the worse. In mid of 2001 he got in a heated altercation and was then charged with first degree attempted murder after shooting an assault rifle through the car door and striking the so called victim. While out on bond and fighting his case, Al Katraz aka AK continued to finish what he started, his album. Apon completing his album he then later pleaded out to a lesser charge of aggrivated assault with a firearm. On January 23, 2002 he was sentence to 3 years in the Florida State Department Of Corrections. While serving his prison sentence his new album was supposed to hit the streets in mid 2002 but instead Producer Terrance T-Flex Davis shelf the album until the awaited release of their King MC and leading solo artist of Crest Entertainment returned. With a 3 year bid hanging over his head and his exceptional work shelved for the time being he still continued to stay focus by turning to his pen and pad. He wrote song after song pouring his soul out into every verse while also entertaining others in the prison system who hung on to every word he spoke. He became widely known in different prison camps as one of the best MCs there. He even won many rap battles in prison and won the hearts of many. His words were said to be very powerful and could penetrate through the very core of your soul. By late 2002 Producer Terrance T-Flex Davis wanted badly for the music industry to get a taste of this new rap phenomenon so he decided to bring out the long awaited finished album in spring of 2003. But due to the lack of sufficient funds due to failed album attempts of other artists on the same label, again the album was shelved. After being released in January 2005 he immediately started work on a demo. He is no longer with Crest Entertainment and is now an independent rapper who is making his mark in rap music history. Aiming to be the best that ever grabbed a mic and using his personal pains and struggles in his music makes him the most realistic rapper that set foot in the game. You can feel his heart in every song, feel every pain, every sadness, every struggle, and every joy through his music. His words are piercing, his lyrics is his ammunition, his tongue a weapon.
